Roses Are Bloo

I love living in the city!!

Living in the city of Pittsburgh, I honestly feel like I’m in my backyard. The town I’m from, Greensburg, is only 25 miles east from here, so I’m not that far from home sweet home. Although I am far enough away to start anew!

I love living in the city! There’s so much life all around town and it makes me feel so unconstrained and alive! At home there’s not much to do; sit around and chill with friends, go to the local Walmart in Greensburg, or go to the local Walmart in Latrobe, assemble at the mall like mallrats, drive around aimlessly blasting tunes, and so on and on. It’s tough being a kid in a little big town when the man just wants to push you around and keep you down! Here in the city, it seems that the cops and the like seem to keep more to themselves. Obviously there are more prominent and intense problems to take care of besides mischievous teenagers just looking for misadventure. At home, on the other hand, cops will look for any excuse to give a kid a bad rap. Which just says more about the cops than it does the kid.

The Greensburg area is much more wide open and rural than here in the “big” city, which I do hanker for immensely. Something about being in the middle of a forrest surrounded by nothing but trees, shrubbery, and the occasional crackling of twigs from a woodland creature off in the distance makes me feel so at one. Here in the city I am brought to one in a whole different way. I feel my kindred spirit coloring far outside the lines and laughing manically in the brisk winds of the city. Being here in Pittsburgh makes me feel like a little girl all over again. I discover something new everyday, I become more up on my surroundings, and occasionally I go on a venture and make a new friend or two.

There’s always adventure around the corner in the city! Sometimes when you’re not even looking for or expecting an adventure, adventure just finds you and adventure expects you to go along! At home there is adventure to be had as well, but nothing compared to breathing in the city living. I will admit to missing the glamorous joy rides with the best of friends on dark and obscure back roads of my hometown. The city can’t always satisfy a country girls’ appetite. You can take the girl out of the country but you can’t take the country out of the girl.
